What is Aajeevika Skills?
Aajeevika Skill: Making Rural Poor Youth Employable
Aajeevika- National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) is an initiative launched by Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India in June 2011. The Aajeevika Skill is a sub-mission under NRLM. It has evolved out of the need to:
- cater to the occupational aspirations of the rural youth who are poor and
- to diversify incomes of the rural poor.
Key Features
- Provides customized residential and non residential training
- Minimum 624 hours of training with modules on trade specific skills, IT and soft skills.
- Special programs for Jammu and Kashmir, Minorities and Most critical Left wing Extremist Districts
- Implemented under the supervision of the central and state governments
- 75% assured placement above minimum wages
- Post placement support
- Food and transport support during training
